The University of Iowa

Research Administration Handbook

The University of Iowa Research Administration Handbook (RAH) serves as a basic guide to administering sponsored projects -- i.e., research, training, scholarship, and other creative and educational endeavors receiving financial support through external sources such as government agencies, private organizations, and business entities. Sponsored projects, by definition, require some degree of institutional oversight, which in turn requires a thorough understanding of University policies and procedures and how they complement, reinforce, and integrate with government regulations and sponsor requirements. The material in the following chapters will provide a foundation for developing a thorough understanding of the various requirements and proper procedures for requesting, accepting, and managing external funding and conducting sponsored projects.
